Established in 1927, we are a leading magazine and book publisher in the countryside sector, based in a stunning water mill conversion at Broughton Hall near Skipton, on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales.

Our small format magazines are widely respected for their insight into the history, traditions, landscape and people of the areas they cover. Our regional titles are the Dalesman, Cumbria and Down Your Way. Our national title is the Countryman. These are largely subscription based but are also available on news-stands throughout the UK.

Our extensive book publishing programme covers the outdoors, landcape, humour and nostalgia, and features well known authors such as Sir Bernard Ingham, Gervase Phinn, Ashley Jackson, Lord Healey and Sir Chris Bonington.

Our Yorkshire Rural Awards initiative, launched by Alan Titchmarsh in 2007 has become a firmly established as a highlight of the Yorkshire Rural calendar.

We are launching a brand new publication the 'Yorkshire Dales Guide' in April 2011. Please click here to find out more about the guide and the unique advertising opportunities this offers.

As well as publishing magazines, we also publish many titles, in hardback, paperback, DVD and CD. We have a range of titles from award winning author and ex schools inspector Gervase Phinn, Sir Bernard Ingham, Ian McMillan, Harry Gration and many more. We also publish a very successful range of walking, dialect and nostalgia titles. Visit our shop
